Node 2 Latest March 21, 2009
Posted by ismywebsite in general.2 comments
Here is the latest from Felweb:
We will have our new powerful server installed on Sunday and in the night we will be moving all your accounts. You should expect all accounts to be functional with databases again on Monday. In the new server you will be able again to have a correct installation of cPanel, therefore the password files will be replace[a]ble so you can work with it. We appreciate all your understanding on this matter, and we hope in next week to be giving you better service than we have already have. Please make sure all your accounts has been assigned now to your WHM.
So that should wrap up this server issue if things are done on Monday as promised. I have a script to reset all your passwords in 5 minutes, so that isn’t a problem there.

Limestone Yet a Third Time! March 19, 2009
Posted by ismywebsite in general.3 comments
I just got mail from Felweb and ironically, the company they signed up with was a reseller of Limestone Networks, meaning they basically signed up for Limestone Networks yet again. No wonder the cPanel is so corrupt!
Well this server was acquired from ServerComplete and they are a reseller of LimeStone Networks. This server got a cPanel corrupt installation so thats why we are facing this problems with database and passwords. Password corruption can be simply get override within WHM if you just change the password.
We acquire a preorder from SingleHop.com of their new Intel Nehalim i7 with 12 GB DDR3. We are confident we can migrate all accounts, but we will need a day or 2 to get mysql database working again. As for password we will need you to override them.
I am sorry to put in you in all of this problem. We are confident SingleHop is the best choice to start providing quality again for you.
So, just wanted to let you know I’m still working on this, and it’s times like these that I’m glad we have 4 other working servers. (Very soon to be 5.)
If anyone wants to leave Node 2, and I do not blame you in the slightest, send me a message. If your site is online at the moment, and you can avoid using your cPanel for the next while, I would recommend staying here for now. There haven’t been any reported errors with anything else, and all websites are still displaying. We will be moving all data to the new server mentioned above when it is set up.
As always, I recommend making sure you always have a recent backup of your files. There is a tutorial to do this in the new ‘Tutorials’ section of your account.
Problem Summary March 4, 2009
Posted by ismywebsite in general.3 comments
Problems with node 2 are still ongoing. Here’s a summary of what’s happened:
1) On February 26th, the giant LimeStone Networks, dropped all servers used by the company Felweb without any prior notice or warning. No backups were provided.
2) Within 4 hours, Felweb had found and set up new servers with a different company. However, it was soon discovered that the unreliable company WebByCart, had not been providing their promised daily backup service.
3) Data was restored from a backup taken by Felweb on January 18th. Shortly thereafter, the sites were back online and fully functional, however they were still sorting out ownership of accounts, so I had no control over them.
4) Due to password corruption, cPanel access stopped working. I informed users that I would fix this as soon as possible.
5) Access was granted, and passwords were fixed. Then, within 3 hours, due to an error within cPanel, websites stopped displaying properly. A work around was found to visit http://domain/~cpaneluser, which did work.
6) A cPanel technician was informed of this problem, and fixed the websites to work correctly.
7) Within the same day, the websites stopped displaying again. A cPanel level 3 technician is being sent to look at the problem in the near future.
Here’s a FAQ:
Why Exactly Does My Website Not Display?
This has to do with corruption in the vhost file, which is used by cPanel/Apache to determine what addresses link to what HTML files. We will be working to fix this as soon as possible.
When Will Problems Be Fixed By?
If the cPanel technician is successful, things should be fixed by tomorrow. Otherwise, we may have to reset the server and recreate all the accounts.
Can I Still Work On MyWebsite?
Yes. Use the workaround address to access your site. Take your domain name, and append ~cpaneluser onto the end, where cpaneluser is the name you use to connect to cPanel. And remember to back up your files periodically.
What Can I Do To Fix Things?
There are a number of possibilities for you at this point.
1) Wait it out. Felweb has historically provided a highly reliable service previously, with very little downtime. There is a good chance that once this is resolved, things will return to normal. Felweb has been guaranteed their new company cannot terminate anything without 48 hours of notice, and so far demonstrated the best possible handling of these circumstances.
2) Backup your files. If you didn’t back up your files already, it’s recommended to do so now. If we have to recreate accounts, or you need to move servers, this will enable you to get online again quickly. cPanel has a built in backup tool. You should always have a recent backup of your website, as we do not guarantee any backups.
3) Switch servers. Felweb is one of 6 servers which are available for our clients to use. If you would like to switch servers, please indicate so by sending me an email.
Bad To Worse March 3, 2009

It’s been a very exciting day and now it’s time to realize we’ve made so much progress we’re nearly back where we started. At least we had fun, right guys?
Server cPanel is corrupted and all group files. Please backup all your [files] as of today … because server will not be up again until [a] cPanel level 3 [support technician,] who dont work [in the] evening[s,] can check.
It’s not hard to shift accounts to other servers, as I know people are getting frustrated. Please note we are trying as hard as we can to fix this.
Looks Like We’re Back March 3, 2009

Okay, now we should all have cPanel and visual…
And I fixed the DNS issues with people who had multiple database entries. I also fixed the source of the problem in the website sign-up script, so these issues shouldn’t happen again.
There are only two problems left to be resolved.
- Restoring all the accounts created after January 18th. (There were not many.)
- Fixing quota, bandwidth, and package settings. I’m adding this to the database so we can do this easily in the future.
In addition, the forums (also affected because they were on Node 2) have a strange PHP error, which I will be looking into momentarily.
“We are under maintenance” March 3, 2009

Yes, I am aware Node 2 websites are not displaying at this time. This is from Felweb:
We are under maintenance right now as we are upgrading Apache and WHM. Thank you for your understanding.
And then this morning:
I regret to inform that we were updating cPanel to the last version this early morning when httpd.conf become corrupted because of this, making some sites to appear in WHM with MISSING IP and cant update it to the proper vhost.
We have already sent a ticket to cPanel tech department and we are waiting for them to fix this faster than we can do it by fixing it manually account per account. However, we can manually restore some accounts for you but we would like you to please only ask us to restore the most urgents accounts thats need to be up. We appreciate your understanding,
So I guess if anyone needs to be online urgently, let me know. In the meantime, here is how you can access your website to continue working on it during this time:
http://yoursubdomain.ismywebsite.com/~cpaneluser/
Or, if you are using a domain name:
http://yourdomain.com/~cpaneluser/
Or, if that wont work:
http://69.162.119.46/~cpaneluser/
I have sent Felweb some tools to help them resolve this, so we should be back online shortly. cPanel should be fully working for your accounts now as I fixed the corrupt passwords. If not, you should email me about that as your account is probably not in the backup and needs to be recreated.
If anyone wants to switch servers, I’m open to this too.
cPanel Logins Not Working March 2, 2009
Posted by ismywebsite in general.3 comments
Okay, so apparently the logins for your cPanel on Node 2 actually aren’t working, but your site should be online at this time. I am in the process of sorting this out with Felweb, and will keep you posted as things progress. As I mentioned, they are also still in the process of transferring the accounts to where I can access them, so I cannot reset your password to make this work.
Also, I have further information on backups. They were supposed to be daily, but due to an unprofessional company, your data is approximately 3 weeks old. Here is an official statement from Felweb:
In ad[d]ition to this issues, we found WebByCart company to be not tru[st]worthy in the matter of daily rsync backups. The company rsync program didn[']t [a]llow us to restore the accounts and they [provided corrupt] backups[,] leading us to [have] no data in the migration process. [This has made] the problem worse than it already was because of the fact that we will be loosing some important data on several accounts on [the] server. Fortunately, we had a contingency second level with remote backups in a local private server in which we have correct backups but for some accounts, not up to date unfortunately.
Please remember that data backup has never been guaranteed under your account. All the tools are provided to easily backup data on your own, and you are strongly encouraged to do so.
Also, DNS will not work in the following cases, but should otherwise be fully working:
- In the case of your own subdomains that were created before the backup was taken, which are not saved on the server. Once cPanel access is regained, you should be able to create these again.
- In the case where a subdomain had conflicting entries in our database. This should be indicated by it appearing multiple times in your account. We are working to sort these cases out.
Thanks for your patience during this time.
