For the past 9 months since we relaunched last November, I have been shouldering all the costs of keeping this hosting online and fully operational. The cost is hundreds of dollars a month, leaving me thousands in the red. I typically work 10 hours a day, 7 days a week so that I can afford to do this.

I do this because I believe in this hosting and the enourmous impact it has enabled in the world. It is truly amazing to be a part of so many new projects, to be the one who enables them to happen each and every day. So many people have come through our gates and left as leaders.

This month I am setting a simple goal to raise $100.00 in donations, that will all go towards the servers, covering a fraction of their costs. Any extra will go towards next month’s goal of $200.00. Although one-time donations are appreciated, my main goal is to gain some monthly donors, permanently increasing the sustenance and growth of this website.

Meeting these goals not only means we have more to work with and can expand and improve this hosting to better meet your needs, it also means more time is available to help with the client experience, and we look more solid as a community. More time would be available to help with updates, like getting a team together, finally finishing the advertising system, fixing up the website review system, and more.

Basically, meeing this first goal is the key to getting back on track, offering the best possible service, and making the difference we all want to make. All I ask is, give what you can afford to give. It could be $5.00, $10.00, $20.00. Even $1.00 helps. Even better is to commit monthly, so you will know you are always doing your part.

As a donor, your contribution is recognized on the wall. You gain worldwide recognition and make a huge impact on thousands of lives. The record for the largest donation we’ve received is $190.00, and it’s since been matched twice, but not beaten. With many other organizations, your money will pay wages and facility costs. With us, it all goes straight into the servers, which are employed with special low-cost deals with only the best specially-selected hosting companies. Nothing is wasted.

I have excellent news. Node 3, managed by OSHS, which has now only had one instance of downtime, will continue as normal for the time being. After prolonged discussion with the company for the last half of this month, we received the following reply:

Thanks for your long messages.

We confused your account with another account so our apologies for that.

For the time being you can remain [here]. Should any problems arise we will keep you informed.

Thank you for your business. It is much appreciated.

So, in short, the final result is an even faster and more reliable service, now that the server has been cleaned of a full third of all accounts there, and we have planned a further clean out of another third of the accounts, all of which are either from the system we used prior to November last year, or appear to be under construction.

Node 4 is still being dropped, and interesting enough, the company has now decided to triple the costs as well. So it’s a good thing I’m leaving when I am. We have backups taken already, and the new server is just about ready with your new cPanel accounts. We encourage you to still take regular backups if the contents of your site are dynamic, and/or to warn users that content over the next few days may be lost. The old cPanel will not be destroyed, but will eventually go offline on the old host after our term expires.
